Getting Started with Agile
Getting Started with Agile
So you're in some kind of role, where it "has been decided" that the scope will be delivered in an Agile manner and you need a crash course in Agile. I make an assumption that you'll be acting in some kind of consultancy role where you will be expected to have a viewpoint and potentially drive its adoption. The below is for you.
Still Deciding Which Approach to Use?
- VIDEO: Agile vs Waterfall - watch this from 0:47. Lists key considerations in choosing this methodology vs. waterfall.
Preliminary Reading
- The Agile Manifesto - a declaration of guiding principles. Excuse the late 90s style webpage.
- The Scrum Guide - 13 pages. If you're using scrum, this is the BEST short guide to the Scrum implementation of Agile, written by Ken and Jeff (two of the founding signatories) themselves.
- VIDEO: Scrum in 10 Mins - best vid I could find on the web. Slightly different to the Scrum guide, as it does into some detail about use of Agile Estimation
Support and Training
- Agile Australia - Australian Agile Community
- Scrum.org- THE Scrum Community
- Certified SM - The community for Certified Scrum Masters (CSMs) only.
- Agile Academy - provides training and lots of useful links
- Readify - a software company that practices what it preaches. Offers a great trainingsession for working developers and scrum masters.
