An Ode to a Latte

A 2-minute flash fiction piece I wrote at a writer's circle.

I'm not writing about boring stuff, cause that's what boring writers do. I'm not a boring writer, so I gotta write about interesting stuff. This is interesting, because I'm writing about it. Okay, here goes:

Ode to a latte.

Awesome line.

Ode to a latte.
It is delivered to me with a love heart
two spherical, symmetrical globes jut out

Symmetrical globes? Nah. That sounds slightly porno. Or maybe I just have a dirty mind. Try again.

It is delivered to me with a love heart
a symmetrical symbol of love.

Right. Awesome. Oh crap, I forgot about the rhyming scheme. Shit shit shit. Okay, what do I know about rhyming schemes? ABBA? Ha, Abba. Heroic rhyming schemes plus Scandanavian pop groups equals hilarity in oodles. Got it - ABAB, alternating rhyming lines, very Shakespearean and ode like. Let's go with that.

Spherical symmetry, diverging in half
A foamy sculpture ferments above

Hm. Gotta add something about the rest of the latte, the actual coffee bit. But the rest of it's kinda boring. It's the foam bit that's good. But how do I talk about the bad bit like it's awesome? Maybe I should have written ode to a cappuccino instead. Maybe reading what I wrote again will help:

It is delivered to me with a love heart
a symmetrical symbol of love.
Spherical symmetry, diverging in half
A foamy sculpture ferments above

Ferments? Ew. Try... settled, make it a little less biological.

Okay:

A foamy sculpture settled above

There. First stanza. Damn I'm good. How much time do I have left? Oh shit, time's up - gotta read it out now to the writing group and I haven't finished. I'll just make whatever up.
